This is great information, quite helpful. I learned some new terms today...something my husband (a NPD) and his highly sociopathic mother NPD do alot. They do something called "splitting" alot. There can be two stories around the same subject or incident "circulating" at one time. His mother who spreads rumors about her targets constantly might tell one group of people one thing, and then another group something entirely diff. around the same incident. Both groups will believe emphatically what she has told them. The shocking part is that even when a person from one group talks to someone from the other group and notes are compared...the minions will still attempt to make sense out of what the mother has said. The other term is "Deny of Object". My husband does this to me constantly. He will go out of his way to "deny" any request I make of him no matter how minor. (I only make infrequent minor request from him). These requests are never met and he will ALWAYS have a reason why he can NOT oblige. He will make up any reason at all. Yet, he has constant requests...unbelieveable requests made on me from sun up to sun down as if I were his slave. The "Deny of Object" from my understanding is directed toward the person the NPD has pathological envy issues with and is attempting to belittle that person thru denial that they are even human. It is the total denial of respect of another human being. I must say it breeds loathing within the target person. I have seen him jump thru hoops for strangers and even enemies he is attempting to "woo" for narcissistic supply. If I request the exact same thing, he makes certain he will not oblige.
