Everyone is looking for a quick psychological, physical or spiritual fix these days. Today, everyone's motor is running on high idle. Have a wrinkle? Get it filled or botoxed. Is your face rough---go for the laser. Hammy thighs? Lipo!

This is the attitude a lot of individuals have today about their psyches---the quick fix. I have heard from individuals who contact me that they have been pressured to sign up for expensive "change your LIfe" programs. They talk of "transformation" through a four day retreat that costed a bundle. The now enlightened individual begins to work on his/her friends to sign up for this miraculous program.  The leader of the "enlightenment" "change your life" groups are often supernarcissists. They and their staffs cunningly prey on psychologically fragile, lonely, desperate individuals. Many of these "new " programs are recycled versions of others that are fraudulent at best and psychologically harmful. Your money is being taken by unscrupulous, conniving, exploitive narcissists whose only purpose is to fatten their wallets and expand their stock portfolios.  Many clients have been psychologically harmed and financially fleeced by narcissistic spiritual gurus, Here are some red flags to use when you are approached by one of these instant transformation groups:

If it costs a lot of money, be fore-warned.
They want you as a loyal compliant follower who will bring in others who can be "initiated" so they can take your money and anyone else's whom they trap and reel in. True believers are shills for the group leaders and put pressure on new members to sign up for the next phase of the program (which is even more expensive than the first).

There is no instant enlightenment! Insight and eventually enlightenment grow over periods of time with consistent work, perseverance, switchbacks and obstacles to manuever, a motivation that waivers but cannot be extinguished. The spiritual pathway is your own to choose or not choose. It is infused with a beautiful simplicity.  It is your way of finding the infinite in the form that speaks to you.
