Narcissistic women cannot be mothers. They play the role of pretend mother. They expect their children to be attractive, brilliant,gifted, athletic, etc. Those children who are not, are discarded and rejected. The narcissistic mother is very demanding, insisting that her children enter careers that are very prestigious: medicine, dentistry,CEO's,scientists. The narcissistic woman can never be a mother because she is incapable of empathy, the most important psychological capacity a genuine mother must have to raise emotionally healthy children. This was an interesting quick audio glimpse into the motivations of an N mother. Mine was an unrelenting perfectionist in her expectations of what I did for her but never wanted me to surpass her professionally or have a better marriage (or more accurately her image of her marriage) or a better house, etc. In fact, she actively blocked my efforts to pursue a degree higher than hers, makes snide comments to my sister about my marriage and upon seeing my house for the first time remarked to my sister, "it's a house". Conversely, she brags to others about my accomplishments, marriage, kids, etc.
