The Un-Narcissist-Cannot be Purchased at any Price

They say everyone has his price. The narcissist understands this one under his skin and  applies it skillfully to everyone he knows. What is the ultimate prize that allows a person to capitulate his values and moral compass to have something he or she has always wanted and must have. The prize comes in innumerable forms: financial security, opulent lifestyle, raw power, sexual desirability, the psychological possession of another human being. Some people drive a hard bargain, some sell themselves for paltry sums; others give themselves away. A few have no price tag. They cannot be purchased nor will they sell out. With a high level narcissist there is a lot of wheeling and dealing,  jockeying to get just the right human fix for their own selfish ends. Narcissists are masters of titillation and temptation. They know how far to go with each person who comes under their fateful spell. They are experts at leading us deeply into our own delusions and sharing theirs.

The un-narcissist, an individual who is growing psychologically and spiritually, puts his energies and time in another direction, beyond ego, delusion and narcissism. "Letting go of the ego is achieved during a lifetime through a series of steps that include discipline, insight and meditation. When the mind is quiet...we subtly encounter our real selves....we discover the truth about ourselves."  As the ego recedes and insight dawns, ..."the individual experiences a powerful union with all living beings" and with an authentic reality.
