Narcissism and Super Wealth
There are people of great wealth who make tremendous contributions to our world on every level: economics, technology, medicine, the arts, business, philanthropy. These individuals look far beyond themselves and their personal resources and contribute to the quality of everyone's life.
In this post I am focusing on the strong tendency among narcissists to focus their lives upon the attainment of super wealth. This is the ultimate narcissistic supply. With super wealth comes close association with powerful individuals who are part of the social elite.
"Some narcissists use the pursuit of wealth to perpetuate their imposing self-mages. The material blessings that flow from wealth and set these individuals apart appeal to the narcissist's grandiloquent view of himself." The uber rich narcissist doesn't have to forage for accolades from adoring fans. Because he/she resides in the upper 1% monetarily, he has droves of people swarming to him to offer their talents, time and adulation. The very wealthy narcissist has fewer limits than most individuals. He travels throughout the world by private jet, owns many residences, entertains lavishly and is stroked by followers who believe it is a privilege to touch the hem of his garments.
It is tempting for many people to align themselves with narcissists who are very wealthy. For those who are part of this elite group, life is easy and smooth. Wealthy narcissists don't even have to ask for what they want. Their needs and desires are anticipated by others. Life seems to be so effortless, so full of exciting people, access to luxury and comfort beyond one's imagination
In a current society that demonstrates growing narcissism, wealthy narcissists are over-valued and provided with privileges denied to ordinary people. In the midst of all of the excitement and overstimulation surrounding narcissists and super wealth we remind ourselves about life's verities. Individuals are ultimately judged by their compassion, use of their unique gifts and the respect and regard that they have for each individual regardless of social class or monetary status. It is not the costume or package in which we are wrapped that matters or has value, it is what is contained at the heart's core. "...when we open our hearts, we become more complete human beings. As much as we can learn with our intellects, the heart knows (so) much more." Our open heart is our wealth. Visit my website: www.thenarcissistinyourlife.com

You have defined the ultimate temptation, the shiny dangling lure that the narcissist knows will reel 'em in, and as they jump in his/her boat, he/she laughs coldly, knowing that they in the end will love him/her not, and that life holds no meaning in the end. Therein lies the treachery, the dead end for all involved. A sad, tragic story. One I am all too well acquainted with.
