This is the age of the ultimate narcissistic tell-all book, video,cd,dvd,etc. Celebrities of every kind--movies, TV, sports, business are running to their ghost writers, begging to write the truth about their lives. Ghost writers are no fools. They earn and command thousands of dollars for penning books about the lives of the rich and famous and infamous. Maximum exposure to the media is the goal.  In their interviews narcissistic celebrities say they are bound by conscience and character to bear their souls and in some cases, their bodies to get to the ultimate truth of their lives.  Narcissists in the confessional of memoir spare us no detail. I recently spoke with a stranger in a store about one of these tomes. I asked her opinion of the latest tell-alls. She had no argument with them. I suggested that there could be a traumatic aftermath with the children over their parents' intimate revelations in print. She dismissed me completely, like a buzzing fly. This lady like so many others was on board with narcissistic celebrities. Her parting shot to me was: "-----------had a very rough childhood." I replied: "So did a lot of people. Does that give -----------permission to leave his/her children unprotected and traumatized by shocking revelations in print?" She shot me back a look of pure disgust and sauntered around the corner to resume her obsessive foraging. Her attitude and that of many people is: If you are a famous narcissistic celebrity or person of  high visibility you are entitled to do, write and publicly say anything you want, at the expense of your children's psychological health. This is a pervasive accepted attitude. Let's find the next titillation, bounce, hit. There will always be narcissistic celebrities. (There are countless high visibility individuals who are not narcissists and contribute greatly to our society---remember Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid---gorgeous, talented guys, fine human beings!)

Narcissists spare no one----even their children. They must remain in the spotlight even if they damage those whom they are morally and parentally bound to cherish, respect and protect. There is a temptation to identify with the narcissist's celebrity and no limits way of life.
