Narcissists are among the most skilled individuals at persuading others to join them in an adventure that will be profitable, pleasurable and fun. They  bring a irrepressible enthusiasm to the task. Many high level narcissists are gifted in business, politics, art, theater, media, high tech and many other pursuits that bring them monetary success and adulation.  The narcissist has a specific role for you in his entourage. Having a group of adoring people around him is part of fulfilling the narcissist's needs for constant ego satisfactions. 

What role are you playing in the narcissist's life? "The narcissist is encircled by a theatrical cast of supporting actors, bit players, and extras. Good supporting actors are invaluable (to the narcissist). .. they intensify the drama, drawing attention to the star. ..Supporting actors frequently relinquish their life destinies to the narcissist. Their hearts beat in rhythm to the tempo of  his days."  If you are currently a member of the narcissist's golden circle as a spouse, girlfriend, boyfriend, friend, etc., you haven't made a good deal for yourself. Eventually the beautifully crafted facade of the narcissist will be unveiled. You will begin to feel the demands, criticisms, exploitive tricks and traps of the narcissist. Relationships with narcissists are determined by how much use you are to him or her. Ultimately, members of the entourage are all expendable. At a time known to the narcissist, you will be discarded and replaced.
