Ego-Give It A Rest

The narcissist's ego is always in high gear, like the signature notes of a Harley revving up at close range. The high level narcissist has a ready supply of ego satisfactions at his disposal and an inner circle that feeds him the fresh red meat that he or she craves. A state of competitiveness, even a frenzy, surrounds those who are in a chronically charged ego state. Nothing about them is simple or serene, or unencumbered. There is no peace in the company of a narcissist.  The constant buzz of manic activity and acquisition of narcissistic supplies can be exhausting  to those who live with a narcissist. Some members of the tight circle become conditioned to all the frantic drama and cannot find any peace within themselves. Forget the chaos---They are privileged members of the narcissist's exclusive club.

The ego has a tight grip on most of us. We mistakenly identify the ego with the real "I" . Constantly activating the ego eventually becomes a burden to those who are not narcissistic. Learning to let go of the ego is achieved through motivation, discipline, practice and commitment. This is an ongoing lifelong process, in the making, moment by moment.  One of the best ways to give the ego a rest is through meditation. When we follow the inhalation and exhalation of the breath and allow ourselves to sit quietly, without expectation, the psychological and mental knots that bind us begin to loosen. With consistent practice, we experience ourselves as transparent, undefensive, spiritually receptive and free of the current and leftover pain of the past. "When the mind is quiet...we subtly encounter our real selves...The ego voice becomes muted...The mind is honing in on a calmness and serenity that it has been longing for since birth." We have returned home to our true nature. Visit my website:www.thenarcissistinyourlife.com
