What does one do when they see the child of a mother with behavior showing the same behaviors? I am the grandmother and see this in my own grandchild. Can the behavior of a mother cause a very young child to shut down and not talk? I question abuse to the 2nd born child of this mother. I am wondering if this is why she didn't talk until she was over 4. Since Mom has left the home and left the children with Dad this little girl has flourished and is expressing herself more and more each day. The Mother is obsessed that the child is autistic. Something is wrong here but she doesn't show the outward signs of Autism. She has a hard time processing. Mother did not take the Dr's advice and seek referrals at 18 months of age, she let this go until the child was 4, and the child could not see, and was in need of eye glasses. It is a sad state of affairs. Dad is dealing with a lot right now. She isolated them from Dads family, and socializing the children. The older child is an odd child. He has a very high self esteem, and does not mix well with other children.
I also see this behavior in Mom herself. I am very worried about the children and my son in this situation. We live 8 hours from them and it is so hard on everyone to have to sit and watch her wrath go on and on.
