The high-level narcissist fits all of the qualifications of a severe personality disorder. However, he(she) is different from his lower level brothers and sisters in narcissism. First of all, he is often quite attractive. If not given the beauty or handsomeness gene, the high-level narcissist makes sure that his image is impeccable. Image is reality for the narcissist. Everything about them spells perfection. High-level narcisists know whom to talk to, when and how. When they zero in on someone they turn on the charm like the sun coming out after months of gloom.  There is a vibration around the high-level narcissist, a chemistry that draws us closer to him/her. These folks know how to work a room, a stage, a banquet, an auditoriums. They love to perform and are tremendous actors.

Some of our finest actors are and have been narcissists. However, there are many great actors who are not narcissistic at all. Just look at Paul Newman with those sapphire blue eyes, the perfectly shaped face, golden skin tones, the voice, the sensual energy and of course the tremendous gift of acting. He was enough to knock you out cold. But it has always been my impression that Paul Newman is a real human being that understands his frailties. He's even given to shyness. Newman is extremely humble for a person who has contributed so much to our lives through his films and the incredible selfless giving to very sick children through his companies.
